Launched during the World Humanitarian Summit 2016, the Grand Bargain is a commitment between donors and humanitarian agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian action.

The agreement sets out 51 commitments refined into nine thematic work streams as well as one cross cutting commitment. JIPS contributes to the fifth commitment on improving joint and impartial needs assessment, through the Joint Inter-Sectoral Analysis Group (JIAG).

The 2018 Grand Bargain Annual Independent Report provides an update on progress made through the JIAG. For more on the Grand Bargain, the Inter-agency Standing Committee (IASC) also provides comprehensive background information.
