Global Alliance for Urban Crises: Knowledge Product Launch Event

Centre International de Conférences Genève, 17 Rue de Varembé, 1211 Genève (Switzerland)
  8 February 2019 9:00 am - 8 February 2019 1:00 pm

To operationalise the Global Alliance for Urban Crises’ commitments, the Alliance Working Groups have been developing a series of knowledge products that will be key steps in driving an agenda for change. JIPS substantially contributed to two of these products, which will be officially launched at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (HNPW):

  1. Developing a better shared understanding of the complexities of urban crises: this paper provides an overview of urban profiling – a process for collecting information on urban populations and the conditions of the city jointly-owned by those involved in the urban response. This shared understanding must capture both the needs of the displacement-affected populations, including the displaced and local communities, as well as the pressures on the urban environment.
  2. Developing a systems approach to protracted urban displacement: this paper identifies the divergences and convergences of activities between the stakeholders identified above in assisting refugees and IDPs living in urban areas.
