Led by JIPS, the 6-day training will be co-facilitated by OCHA and IOM. The regional edition of the PCT will be facilitated in French. We specifically encourage colleagues from government and national statistics offices working on displacement to participate.
This training offers participants the opportunity to develop tailored approaches to profiling, taking their contexts into account. Enhancing the capacity for conducting future profiling exercises, this PCT also provides a platform to create regional collaborative networks.
The ECOSOC’s Humanitarian Affairs Segment, taking place from 24 till 26 June 2019, is a platform for Member States, the United Nations system, development actors, the private sector and other humanitarian partners, to discuss activities and issues related to strengthening the coordination of the humanitarian assistance of the United Nations. This year’s HAS is focusing on the theme “Promoting action to save lives, reach those in need and reduce humanitarian risk, vulnerability and need: looking towards the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 and the climate summit called for by the Secretary-General“.
Under the auspices of the GP20 Plan of Action for Advancing Prevention, Protection and Solutions for IDPs, the HAS also features a side event on the topic “Addressing internal displacement associated with disasters and conflict: Planning for the long haul“. It is co-organised by the GP20 Coordinator, OCHA and the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC).
