Our training

Training and capacity building is a key feature of JIPS’ support for profiling in displacement situations. In line with our 2015-2017 strategy, building capacity for profiling is integral to our work and aims to expand our support and contribute to building a community of practice. At global, regional and national levels, the JIPS team works with a wide range of partners to design and deliver quality trainings and workshops.

Our aim

Through our training and capacity building activities, we aim to:

  • Strengthen the skills, competencies and abilities of those involved directly or indirectly in profiling activities from a coordination and technical point of view

  • Increase knowledge of profiling, and the positive impact that profiling can have in informing joint programming, policy development and long-term solutions for the displaced

Types of training

Our activities focus on three main areas:

  • The Profiling Coordination Training (PCT), a six-day training covering the profiling process and the role of the profiling coordinator
  • Field training/ workshops at the country or regional levels that are tailored to specific needs relating to ongoing or planned profiling exercises
  • Integrating profiling good practice into training courses targeting individual organisations (e.g. for UN Agencies, international NGOs or national statistical offices) or tailored to fit into thematic courses (e.g. protection or policy development) run by partners

Our approach to training is built on the knowledge we have gained from providing support to profiling of displacement situations and is tailored according to the needs of our partners.
